Modify Curved Member Path

Used to modify an existing curved member so that it follows a different existing curved path. (See Placing Curved Members for information on initially placing the curved member.)

Accessed from:

  • Ribbon: Building Design > Modify > Modify > Slope > Modify Curved Beam

The curved path can be a line in the model. For example, if you want a curved member to follow a path that has the same end points, but its curve is different, you can draw the new path over the existing element and then select the new path for the member to follow.

SettingDescription
Make Copy Turn on this check box to make a copy of the curved member, rather than moving it to the new path.

If you have deleted the path (the element that the member had followed originally), you can use a key-in command to recreate the deleted path. Select the member, then in the Key-in Window, key in STREXTRACT PATH. In the Extract Member Line/Path tool settings window, specify the symbology for the line that represents the path.

The element that represents the path appears in the model. Select the (Modify Element) tool to modify the path, then select (Modify Curved Member Path) to apply the path to the curved member.

When you select the new path for the member and accept it, the member adjusts to follow that path. This is true even if the path is completely separate from the existing path. If you want to preserve the original member, be sure to make a copy.
